‘Movin’ On Up’ Scooter Rally in Colorado, June 5-7

“Movin’ On Up”, the longest running vintage motorscooter rally in Colorado, takes place June 5-7 in Colorado Springs.badges-spot01

Festivities for this tenth annual event take place at The Rocket Room, Buffalo Lodge, and The Piano Warehouse, as well as on public streets. Oh, and there’s a raffle for a classic Vespa.

SCHEDULE

FRIDAY
8pm – Rocket Room (230 Pueblo Ave) Register for the rally (free) and meet up with new and old friends; have cocktails; and enjoy DJs Gazzy Goff, Davevinyls, Muggy Luvins and AdamXYL. Get your first look at the Raffle bike and enjoy yourself.

SATURDAY
11am – Breakfast at the Buffalo. Wake up, stumble outside and enjoy some coffee and breakfast.
1pm – Pokenger Runt ride around – no 50 cc scooters please.
4pm – End up back at the Buffalo for food, drinks the Mechanics Race and other games, take a swim and have a few beers on the Serveterans. Take a nap, grab a shower and get ready for:
9pm – Ride from the Buffalo to the Piano Warehouse for Party For The People featuring live rock and roll, complimentary beer from Bristol Brewing and a FULL OPEN BAR – you get into this party free with your rally registration (free).

SUNDAY
11am – Breakfast location TBA
1pm – Mike Loop Memorial Ride. Scenic ride around the area.
3pm – Ride end, drinks, food silent auction and Awards.

LeoVince Hosts Benefit Street Ride, May 14

LeoVince’s 4th Annual Grape Crusher ride, benefiting Speedway Children’s Charities, takes place Thursday, May 14.4-7-09grapecrusherflyer

The ride, 100 to 120 miles in length, follows the California coastline northward then cuts inland through the wine country back to Infineon Speedway. Riders will gather at LeoVince USA’s Richmond, Calif. headquarters starting at 9:30am with the ride leaving promptly at 11 am. A gourmet lunch served along the way, and Jason Britton will be one of the celebrity guests joining the ride. The ride ends at Infineon Raceway at 5 pm with a catered reception including LeoVince athletes, celebrities and team crews.

Cost is $40 per entry and includes a takeaway gift and raffle. All benefits from the ride go to the Speedway Children’s Charities fund.

H-D Iron 883 First Peek — On the Road to Review

Picked up the Harley-Davidson Iron 883 today over at the H-D fleet center. Man, I love that place and today I had the pleasure of talking with Todd Canavan, one of the Super Tech Gurus who helps run the fleet. Canavan’s explanation and overview of the Iron 883 was amazingly thorough and for this I say Thanks Todd. Good stuff. He even brushed through the magic that is the Harley self-canceling turn signal system that was apparently designed by NASA or space aliens.

Still settling into the bike and its extremely low — it is slammed — riding position. But once the cramp in my thigh went away, I was reminded why I (more…)
